Volunteer with Smile On Seniors

Make a Difference. Build a Friendship. Change a Life.

Every Smile On Seniors volunteer has one thing in common—a desire to make a meaningful difference in the life of an older adult.

Whether you enjoy visiting one-on-one, helping at community programs, assisting with special events, or supporting behind the scenes, there are many ways to share your time and talents.

The friendships you build may last far longer than the time you spend volunteering.

Why Volunteer?

When you volunteer with Smile On Seniors, you help older adults:

  • Feel connected and valued
  • Build lasting friendships
  • Celebrate Jewish traditions
  • Stay engaged in their community
  • Reduce loneliness and isolation

At the same time, volunteers often discover that they gain just as much through meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and a deeper connection to the community.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to get involved.

Friendly Visits

Visit one-on-one with a senior and build a lasting friendship.

Programs & Events

Help with Shabbat dinners, holiday celebrations, lunches, educational programs, and social events.

Special Projects

Assist with seasonal events, community outreach, and other volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Volunteer Orientation

Before your first volunteer experience, you'll participate in a brief, welcoming orientation designed to help you feel comfortable and confident.

Orientation is designed to help you feel comfortable and confident by introducing you to:

  • The Friendly Visits program
  • Visiting guidelines and best practices
  • Safety and confidentiality
  • What to expect during your first visit
  • Available support and resources

Orientations are available for individuals and small groups and are scheduled throughout the year. This mirrors the intent of your existing orientation information but presents it in a friendlier way.

Building Lasting Friendships

One of the most meaningful parts of volunteering is consistency.

Regular visits allow friendships to grow over time and give seniors something special to look forward to each week or month.

A familiar face, a shared conversation, or simply spending time together can have a lasting impact.

This preserves the important message from your current page about consistency while making it more inspiring.

Bring the Next Generation

Many volunteers enjoy sharing the experience with children and grandchildren when appropriate.

These visits create meaningful intergenerational connections and often become treasured memories for everyone involved.
